Mid NY TO VA Beach - Rt 95 or 84/81/64 ??
Looking for an alternative to the busy shore route this Summer through NJ and WDC along the Rt 95 corridor.
Has anyone tried the 84/81/64 route? Will it take hours longer (seven for us already) or will it save time due to missed traffic jams in NJ and WDC??? Appreciate anyone with experience! |

Hello dwmantz,
We travel from the UConn area to the UVA area four or five times a year. We only use I 95 if there is a winter storm. For us, 84/81/64 is about 100 miles longer. However, the travel time is the same. The route is much easier and more scenic. Our trip consistantly is under 9 hours and 600 miles. VA Beach is about 2 1/2 hours from us. Happy travels, Kathleen |

We travel from Syracuse down Route 81 to 64. We find it a much easier route as long as there is good weather through the mountains. It takes us about 10 hours from Syracuse.
