Excess Staroptions

I'm thinking of booking a Harborside Week next year. I have 148k staroptions, but even the 3 bedroom is like 125k staroptions due to the low season. Interval seems to only let you bank a full week, so I can't bank pieces and accumulate.

What, if anything, can I do with the remaining points? Disney is nice in that you can rent your excess points, but I'm not seeing that as viable, especially since it seems you always rent by the week, and can't rent additional single days like you can with DVC.

we couldn't take anymore vacations this year and we had leftover staroptions so we donated 5 days at orlando to Make a Wish. if this is something you would like to do contact them and ask for 5 different groups of dates then call starwood and see where you can the most for the staroptions you have and book the reservation. it is the best reservation you will make all year.

once it is set, call make a wish back and get the parents names and make a wish"s fax number and then call starwood to put the reservation in their name and have starwood fax over the reservation to make a wish.

so easy and nothing will make you feel better.:cheer:

You can reserve individual days with Starwood, and you can rent those days out if you wish. You just can't directly transfer the Staroptions to someone else.

Stays of less than a week can be reservered at 90 days out from check-in. To see what you can get for the number of Staroptions you have, see the Star Options chart posted in the Owner Resources Sticky at the top of the board.

However, I don't know how easy it will be to rent a day or two. I think if it were me, I would reserve a weekend for myself somewhere, or add a day or 2 to an existing reservation for myself. Or give a friend or family member a weekend away.

If you have enough options for a Make-A-Wish Foundation donation, that would be a lovely thing to do, as well.

Good luck!

Thanks, I didn't notice the daily price.

Boy, they do go out of their way to make this stuff complicated. Especially when you are dealing with split weeks, time windows etc. I guess it takes alot of experience getting this stuff done right.

Life would be so much easier if you could bank a year like you can with DVC.

pointsjunkie: What a generous idea -- I applaud you! :)

Fantastic idea!
