We have been at Wyndham WBW since Saturday, 6/7. We have a comfortable 1br with a parking lot view. The pool is unimpressive and the hot tub is being repaired. It seems like it will be out of commission for awhile. Took the 90 minute tour and we were dismissed in 20 minutes with $100 Beach Walk bucks. Very low pressure due to history of owning 13 weeks of timeshare, mostly from eBay. We move to SVC Marina at the Ilikai on 6/14. While strolling around Beach Walk this evening, we were approached by a SVC tour guy who signed us up for a tour on Saturday. We negotiated our own deal which includes transportation by a SVC shuttle to the Ilikai, with all our luggage. We have the tour at 11:30 a.m. which will help fill the time until check-in at 4 p.m. In addition to saving cab fare, we are getting a $100 voucher to Nick's Fishmarket and $50 in cash. The salesman also gave us 2 Metro Moneybooks, worth $30 each, whiich has restaurant discounts throughout Hawaii. We will be at Pono Kai on 6/21, Kona Coast II on 6/28 and Maui Schooner on 7/5. Life is good!

Wow, Mimi, what an itinerary! I am so jealous! How can we leave our kitties so long. We would love to take a month-long vacation, but those kitties need us after two weeks.

I guess you didn't get to that postcard company presentation.

Just curious - what did you exchange for the Wyndham and the Shell units? Who did you exchange through?

Snagged both with bonus weeks through Trading Places. We have had such good service with TPI, that we are members of their Vacation Exchange Club. When our RCI and II memberships expire, we will probably not renew. :hi:

I want to be like you when I grow up...Or hit the lotto! :D

Except for our first timeshare purchased through Shell in 1995, all others were bought resale, mostly on eBay. We took a tour today at the Shell Marina at Ilikai. We were picked up at Wyndham, with our luggage, and gifted with $75 and a rental car for 2 days. The adorable salesman tried to convince us to convert our two Kona Coast II weeks to points, which would put us in the "Elite Status" with Shell. It was something like $25,000 for 15,000 points and around $2000 in maintenance fees to still own the same weeks (with all those extra point perks???). If we agreed to convert, we could reserve our KCR vacation 13 months in advance instead of the 2 years in advance we always book in order to get a water view unit during 4th of July week. DH and I were employed by our local school district before we retired, so we are by no means rich! We just learned how to use the system. We charge everything (including maintenance fees) instead of paying cash to rack up FF miles and pay the bill every month to avoid service charges. We always arrive at the airport early and give up our seats whenever we can to get airline vouchers. Sometimes we get bumped up to first class when our coach seats are given to other passengers, and there are still seats up front. After struggling with II and RCI to get the trades we wanted, we just decided to buy the weeks we would use every year to avoid trading fees. This way we know we can book our flights 330 days out and secure at least 3 extended vacations every year, for as long as we remain healthy. If vacation time continues to relieve stress and add years to our lives, we figure there are 10 to 20 years of adventures ahead of us! We are now in our mid 60's and lovin' life! We told our Shell pal, we would be much better off keeping our money since we are really not the "elite" kind!

Your words are like medicine!

I agree, vacations are good for our health. Right now I am counting the days until I can retire - 472! Our office is very stressful, people are always quitting and I can go on and on about other events bringing on the stress.

But we do have our health and what gets me through a lot is our vacations. We are finally to a point where when we do go on vacation we can actually relax a little instead of being gone from sun up to sun down.

Last November we had one of our typically on the go vacations - 4 days on the Big Island, three on Maui, three on Kauai, and four on Oahu. Since we had been to Oahu we kicked back a little to end our trip and it was wonderful! This coming October we will have 7 days on Maui and 4 back on Oahu and when doing my planning I can see we have a lot of kick back time! I have always wanted to get to a point when we could visit someplace on a regular basis and Hawaii is meeting that need. Our last trip was to find out what islands we would like best, so we wanted to see all of the major ones.

The airfares are not going to stop us and we do have limited funds. Maybe less tours, cooking more of our own meals, whatever it takes to come up with the extra bucks.
