Has anybody actually used the RCI cancellation insurance? I just booked our 2009 ski trip via RCI, if our plans do change I would like to retain our trading power of the week we used.

We used a Presidents week 2 bedroom Morrits Grand Cayman deposit. This specific week trades like it was gold. I do not want to lose that trading power.

Anyway, it does not cost all that much - $49.00 dollars - but main question is DOES IT WORK?

Yes, I've used it and it works. My TIGER trader retained its trading power when I had to cancel a week I'd booked. They also credit $100 of your trading fee back to your account when you cancel.

Well this is great to know thanks...I always purchase it when trading but thankfully have never had to use.....

RCI travel insurance

Yes, I had to cancel 2 weeks in England this past year... RCI was very good about it and went the extra mile to get me another week for another trip... We are going to Portugal next year and it was one of these weeks... so, yes, it was worth having !!!:D :)

What's the guidelines for canceling? Do you have to provide proof? have death or dismemberment to canel? Or can you cancel if you can't make it to the location?

I just canceled a week where the check-in date was more than 60 days in the future. I didn't need to provide any proof of anything, I just called and canceled. They take $119 and give you a $49 "coupon," which is supposed to be good on your next exchange fee. The returned week has retained its trading power. It all worked just the way it was supposed to!

Great! now I may just do this as I have about 6 weeks for 2009 with RCI.
