Flights to Hawaii

I've been trying unsuccessfully for weeks to obtain 2 first class FF tickets to anywhere in Hawaii for next May/June. I was told by a USAirways agent last night that both USAirways and United are reducing their flights to just one per day, per island, beginning this October.

Get ready for less availability of FF tickets to the islands and fewer options for purchased tickets ... which will result in higher fares - classic supply and demand.

I grabbed two coach tickets using premium miles ... it killed me to do that ... but at least I won't be paying $1250/pp for coach tickets, which is what it cost for the dates I wanted. I'll keep watching to see if they make saver awards available ... which USAirways often does after a couple of months ... and then I'll redeposit my miles and rebook either first class or at least get some miles back for my coach tickets. It's worth the $100/pp to make that change if I can.

Never had this problem until USAirways merged with AWA. And they can't seem to get access to United's flights (Star Alliance partner), even tho UAL kept telling me they had first class seats.

Did you believe what the US Air agent told you about United?

USAirways/United

yes, I believed the agent. I've been looking at flights on United's website for next spring and they don't have as many as they used to. Same with USAirways. Wonder if other airlines will do the same, I don't fly anyone else so I wouldn't be able to tell.
