Coastal California may be difficult. Who would you be trading with? How large a unit do you need? I would think almost anything in San Diego, or along the coast as far us as Oceanside would work. Lawrence Welk, which is inland, wouldn't be bad either.

Weather along the California coast is usually beautiful in October.

Resorts: Club Intrawest, Monarch Grand Vacations, Mountainside Lodge, Marriott Newport Coast
Torrey Pines is just outside of San Deigo. Any of the TS in SD county would be fine.

Your HGVC, can likely get you into the new TS called Grand palisades (sp) which is part of the HGVC system. Right now it is open but there is still a lot of construction. Next year, should be much better.

The marriott can get you into Newport Coast but it is aleast 1.3 hours away from Torrey Pines and may not be the best choice. There are several other TS welk resorts has a big complex and may be a good choice. There are several others as well.

The weather in SoCal is great that time of year!!
