TS speculation

Help me tuggers! I'm really tempted to buy another 2 week package at my home resort on VT. I already own 2 fixed weeks, one float, and one alternating fixed/float. We go there twice per year and rent the rest. None of the ones we own really work for us, so I always have to swap or trade or rent the weeks I can use. It's been working pretty well but I would like to sell my ski week, because I really don't need so many. But now I have an opportunity to buy a week that I am fairly confident will work well for us next year and for the forseeable future. It's such a great price, I feel I can't lose. But we would be overextending ourselves in the hopes that we can sell our winter week (this winter). We have it priced aggressively, and I feel I could probably even flip this week if I had to. But, what if there are no buyers out there, even at bargain prices? Basically I am speculating and I don't know if that is a foolish thing to do with such a flakey market. Any words of wisdom? I hate to let this deal go!

Can you afford or are you willing to suffer through a worst case scenario?

If not you have your answer.

Are you in a 12 step T/S Program yet? We all want the perfect T/S scheme, but can we TRULY afford the carrying costs for the next XXX years? Plus, IMO the energy costs to run our resorts are all going to be headed skyward - just like the airfares recently.

A bird (buyer) in hand is worth two in the bush. IMHO, sell first and then look for the perfect week while banking your $$$ savings.
