Winter in Sapphire Valley

We've been going every summer for the past 3 years and are considering doing a winter trip.

We've got 2 children (3 and 6) who have never seen snow. I know they have snow making capabilities, but what are the chances of it not being cold enough for even snow making?

Also, what else is there to do in the winter up there?

The resort has a nice indoor pool and other recreation - pool table, ping pong, some organized activities. Having been there, you know that it's a relaxed, outdoors-oriented area. If it's cold enough for snow-making, there's skiing, sledding, tubing. If it's not cold enough for that, then you may still enjoy winter hikes to waterfalls or walking around the little lake at Sapphire. There are trails, ask at the recreation buildings.

It's an hour drive to Asheville for the Biltmore Estate and other urban activities. Maybe 30-40 minutes to drive to Hendersonville or Brevard for movies, bowling, roller skating, etc. Brevard College has an active music and drama department, sometimes putting on programs appropriate for children - check their website.
