Massanutten Activity fees/perks for owners?

We will use our Massanutten unit in July of 2009. We haven't ever been there before. I heard that owners get a discount on activities. I am trying to figure out if we should buy the $99 activity card. What is the discount if there is one are there any owner perks?

New Owners!

We just made a successful offer on a 4 bedroom/4 bath, 1-52 floating unit at the Summit. (Fie on your 1 in 4 rule ) I got tired of trying to find good deals on non RCI offers.

Closing won't be for about 60 days and our first use year is 2009, but I have some questions about reservations and other items.

I am assuming you can reserve as soon as you have paid your MF, but how far in advance can you reserve? Is it possible to reserve more than one year in advance? Are there any hints that experienced owners can give me?

Is it possible to split the lock-outs with the Summit? Could I reserve the upper unit for May and the lower unit for August? Or do I have to reserve both units at once, then deposit one in RCI to trade for the second time frame?

Is there a WaterPark discount for owners or do you only get a discount if you buy the Activity card?

What are the questions that I don't know enough to ask?

Thanks, Tuggers

Massanutten

After you pay your yearly fees

You can only reseve a Summit unit (upper & lower)
for a Summit unit in the section that you own it...
You make the res by calling into the Massanutten
reservations dept each yr (also online & by email)

Once you have a confirmed date & unit number assigned
You can then split it up for different dates/units with RCI

Once your deposit your (reserved) week (u and/or l) with RCI
RCI offers $25 discount on trading back into VV Family Resorts

Owners do get discounts on Water Park Tickets

Marty, maybe you can clarify this for us too. We are also new owners, Woodstone (but keeping an eye still on Summit!).

2 weeks ago we received an owners Newsletters 'Carved in Stone' and a form advising that if we want now we can deposit our week(s) directly with the Massanutten Resort, instead of RCI.

I know this is new, would that be better for us owners? I wouldn't mind dealing directly with Resort, if that ensures me to split my Unit and get a good week. RCI is a headache!

They told us we can reserve, after paying our fees, up to 2 years in advance.

As owners (we just got our ID's 2 weeks ago), we get a discount on Water Park, also Hotel is supposedly to be 1/2 price for owners (anybody has done this before?), Golf, but do not remember anything else.

The $99 card is good is you are going to play Golf a lot! We took some of the courses and one trip to a Vineyard and still it did not justify for us to buy the Card. Now, we don't have small children (a teenager who went kayaking and rafting) so maybe adding up the activities for your family, you can find out if it is worth for you. But, don't forget that some classes are at the Ski Lodge and some down the mountain. You don't want to stress yourself too much during a vacation, and with only one car!

Go to their website, look for the activities, print them, print also the one with prices and work a schedule, suitable for your family. The total amount will tell you if it pays for you to buy the Activity Card. Have fun!

I just called and spoke with a lady at The Summit
She said, that neither The Summit nor Woodstone
have an internal exchange program

She said, that Woodstone - will now deposit your
week with RCI for you, so that you do not have to
do it yourself..
