Manhattan Club 1 in 4?

Long story short.

We exchanged into the Manahattan Club in April 07. I am trying to exchange into the resort again in September of 09, and in fact, have a unit on hold. I had to call to confirm. The guide refused to confirm because of the 1 in 4.

I was under the impression that the 1 in 4 rule was for any exchanges that took place AFTER this rule was implemented earlier this year. The RCI Guide says no, it is retroactive and I cannot confirm.

Has any one else run into this problem? Or is the guide giving me the run-around?

I was under the same impression as you. Call back and ask to speak to another guide.

when was the 1-4 rule put into place? Does it apply to when you stay there or when you booked the first reservation?

I was told it applied when you stayed, not when you booked.

Still looking for someone who has stayed at The Manhattan Club since the 1 in 4 rule was implemented on 3/21/08 and had stayed there previously from that date in the last four years.

My previous exchange was booked 1/11/06 for a 3/30/07 check-in.

I have gotten several different answers from different guides. I don't want to bug them so much that they get irritated and are not willing to help. For some reason they have agreed to hold the unit till midnight tonight.

TIA
Gayle

I think it is retroactive. I wouldn't press it any further because even if you get someone to confirm it, they will cancel it later.

Your best option is to have another exchanger get it for you and put you in as guest.

I stayed there in July of this year, (booked last year)....and was told that the 1 in 4 began w/ this stay, (even tho it was booked BEFORE the 1 in 4; the stay occurred AFTER the 1 in 4 rule was proposed). I had previously stayed at the MC about 2 years ago....(March '06)....and they didn't count that stay towards the 1 in 4.

I believe that any STAY after the March '08 "1 in 4 rule" would count......your stay back in '07 should not. JMHO.

The 1-4 rule is requested by the resort and is not negotiable by RCI. I would imagine that your best chance (if there is one) is to contact Manhattan Club to see if they can then in turn ok with RCI to allow the 1-4 rule.

I do not know where to direct you to at the Manhattan Club.

I agree with Senorak. The countdown begins with the month you exchange into the MC (after the rule adoption date of 3/21/08). Since you went to the Manhattan Club in April 2007, yoiur next exchange will start the 1 in 4 year countdown.
