I have 81,000 points, and I think I would probably only use 37,000 in 2009. Can I put the remaining 44,000 (which are typically worth a 1-bedroom unit in SVN) into II? Or, does it have to be all or nothing into II?

You deposit a unit into II, not points. So you need to put in a request to deposit that 1 bdrm unit into II and hope they deposit a good week. You'll have about 2 years to book something else.

Good luck!

Thanks. So, would I book a 1-bedroom for my 37,000 points and then another 1-bedroom unit for my 44,000 points...and then ask Starwood to put one of them into Interval and then see what they do with it? Or, is there a better way to get some (but not all) of my points/week for my 2-bedroom unit into II?

Thanks again!

Remember that StarPOINTS are Starwood HOTEL points, and the value of your timeshare in the SVN is in StarOPTIONS.

Staroptions are only used within the Starwood system - they don't come into play with a II deposit at all. If you own a 2 bdm. lock-off, you can use one half and deposit the other half with II. If you only own a one bdm. you would have to deposit the whole unit/week, because you can't deposit only part of a week. You can't book a Staroption exchange and deposit that, because you can only deposit what you own.

Starwood reserves the right to choose the week you deposit, so even if you reserve a week, Starwood may choose a different week to deposit. If you bought resale, you may have slightly more luck convincing Starwood to deposit a good week for you.

Here is an article about exchanging Starwood with II, with more details.

Basically, what you need to do is call owner services and tell them you would like to split your week and deposit half of it with II.
