Advice Needed for Thanksgivng NYC Trip
I'd like to take my family of 5 to NYC for Thanksgiving this year. We'd drive in around 10am on Wed Nov 26 and leave by 3pm on Fri Nov 28. I'd prefer mid-town area in general, but am looking for a room with two queens and a sleep sofa, including parking, for a reasonable price.
We'd appreciate any suggestions and help. Thanks in advance! |

I am not familiar with NY hotels all that much but I know it is very difficult to find rooms that accommodate 5 people. They often state fire code as the prevention and mandate renting two rooms. I believe there are a few suite hotels (Doubletree and Embassy Suites) that might be more flexible.
Staying anywhere in NY over the Thanksgiving holiday is going to be expensive, particularly midtown. Another option is to stay on the NJ side and take your car, the ferry, bus or path train over. I particularly like the ferry option as driving is still costly with tolls and parking. There are a few hotels right on the ferry line. Gretel makes a great suggestion regarding staying in NJ. I suggest the Sheraton In Weehawken. This is directly across from the ferry to midtown. You can't get much easier than that. You will be in the city within 10-15 minutes and the ferry allows free bus travel once you are in NY. You don't want to be driving around at this time of year. I am not sure about the room accomadations but it may be worth checking in to.
Good luck |

The Affinia chain of hotels have one bedrooms that accomodate 5. You might be able to rent a couple of days at either Affinia Dumont or Affinia Manhattan from a Royal Holiday timeshare owner. I would post a rent wish in Tug's marketplace. Also, I always read good things about Radio City Apartments on Tripadvisor.com.
