Manhattan Club on hold 11/07-11/14

I have a studio on hold for the Manhattan club and wanted input from anyone who has stayed there recently. The reviews both on here and trip advisor are all over the board--from a 'we loved it' to 'we will never return'.
I have never been to NYC before--this would be for three adult women.
Does the location make up for a lack of amenities ? Do we really need a full week? or would we be better off just booking a nice hotel for 3-4 nights? thanx again to all you tuggers--Dawn

I've never stayed there, but I've visited people who have. Yes, the location is FANTASTIC and definitely makes up for the lack of amenities.

The rooms I've been in have been quite nice, certainly vastly better than most of the mid-priced Manhattan hotel rooms I've seen, and bigger, too. I would go for it, especially if there are three of you. Have fun!

I have stayed there several times in the past 12 months. The most recent was Dec. 18 for 3 nights. The units have been clean and updated with wide screen tvs and newer furniture. The light fixtures are older and the most recent unit had peeling wallpaper in the living area. I think it would be hard to compare to a typical timeshare because there are no amenities, but I don't go to NYC to swim or play tennis. I don't personally like the front desk staff because they do not seem to be very friendly or helpful, but Anthony the bellman is great.

I would stay there again and already have a June trip planned to go back.

I do love the location and now that I have stayed there so many times, I know the area and I am very comfortable there.

JMHO,
Cindy

The MC is fine but it will be a tight fit for 3. Having a week in NYC is great but you will go through the moola like nobody's business. You will have a small fridge which is great for leftovers. But, a week in NYC feels like a month. At least that is how I felt when I went for a week and we go very often but usually for 3-4 days. You will have a great time and can walk to many things from this location.

I just released this if anyone is interested. My niece is a college student and would really like to go along--so I'm going to put in an ongoing search for a 1 br for Jan and March 2010 when she is on break. thanx, Dawn

Dawn- Be sure to call RCI periodically as sometimes an ongoing search will still fail to match up. Good luck- and, the one bedroom with the 2 baths is great for 3-4 women. The sleep sofa is not that great for one much less two, so be sure to get a cot in the room. How fun!

I'm jealous.

We try to get there for a week every year and it's never enough. Someday probably we'll go for more than a week. Just to get enough until the next time there.

Being able to go often for 3-4 days can spoil you!

We live closer to SF so we used to go there for 3-4 days occasionally. Since we began timesharing we try to go to SF for 2 weeks each year, a late spring week and a fall week. A timeshare week is cheaper than what we used to pay for 3-4 nights in a hotel.

Maybe you do the same for NYC. I'm still jealous.
