Has anybody stayed at this resort? Feedback? How does it compare to the Marriott Aruba Surf Club? How is the location? Any advice or good tips?

Renaissance Aruba

Hi, we've stayed here several times either before or just after our time share exchange. We usually wanted to extend the 2 weeks just a little bit, one time it was to accommodate airline tickets. We like it for a change. Walk to the little shops. Restaurants galore. If you want they will take you over to their little island to their beach. Have fun.

This is where I stayed when we were given a week by our good tugger Kathy Q . This was my birthday present. (Thanks Kathy) I thought it was a great place to stay. You will never find a more concerned management group in your life. We had food poisoning (not from here) and they took unbelievable care of us. Checked on us every day, and picked us up from the hospital. Lots of good restaurants near there that you can walk to. shaggy

Very nice resort, great location and the private island is great The biggest plus of this resort is the lack of crowds. Unforunately the high rise resorts on Palm beach tend to have crowded beaches and pool areas. Not so here.

We stayed there this past November, and had a wonderful time.

The location is perfect for walking around the downtown area everyday. Lot's of great people watching. You can always take the city bus to the high rise area and walk the beach.

Although there is no actual beach on the resort, the pool is nice, the private island was also very nice.

Our room was OK, we were on the ground floor so we did not have any view - but we were able to just walk out our patio door to the pool.

Enjoy!

Complete opposite of the Surf Club. We stayed at both in Dec, first at Surf Club, and then at the Renaissance. Where our stay at the Surf Club had me never wanting to go back to Aruba, our stay at the Renaissance reversed my attitude completely.

Surf club is completely overbuilt, with a very poor ratio of public areas for the size of the resort. With the Surf club, you go out in mid-morning, and there are no chairs to be found by the pool, and you can barely see the ocean - just a sea of chair backs. The lazy river is nice, but except for the afternoon and evening - is always crowded.

Renaissance is more centrally located, and the private island is great. Only two downsides - rooms are smaller then the Surf club w/limited kitchen (ie. no oven). And no long beach in front of the hotel to walk on. If either of those two things are critical to you, then you might want to put up with crowds and go to the Surf Club.
