Vacation Village in the Berkshires, unit assignment

Hi,

I am making arrangement for an extended family get together. RCI only have one bedroom unit available at the Vacation Village. But they have many of them. I searched the forum and it seems like unit numbers were assigned by the resort. Is that still true?

If not, RCI could get me 3-4 units in Building 2 or 3. Is one better than the other? Is there a way to tell which unit is on the top floor? We have one kid with autism. He is very sensitive to noise. I'd like to get at least one unit on top floor.

Thank you so much for your help,

Jane

Be very specific when you ask about unit assignments -- one side of some buildings will have beautiful views -- the other side of the building will face a berm, with no view except the grass growing on the berm.

We loved our stay there a few years ago in May. The area is just gorgeous. At the time, there was no cell phone reception at all at the resort. You had to drive down the mountain to get any bars. Has that improved?

Cell service has improved significantly. Verizon added a new tower.

There are two kinds of one-br units--they are actually all part of a 2-br lock-out unit. One half is very large and spacious with a full kitchen. The other is a decent size with a partial kitchen, meaning it has a two-burner hotplate, no oven and very limited counterspace. Be sure to get the one-br with full kitchen if you plan to eat in.

I believe that our confirmations usually have rooms 101ab written on them. We have called and requested 901ab and have gotten it 3 times. Building 9 is right across from the activity center/playground/bbq grills. The odd number rooms have much better views. The evens looked over the parking lot. I would prefer building 9, 10, 11, as the lower numbers are down the road. It is quite a hike uphill.

The a's are much larger than the b units. If you can reserve one a and one b, they can probably put you together. We always have both sides. The walls are a bit thin. We like the lower level because we are loud! 2 boys make a lot of noise!

The road goes up hill starting with building 1...Building 8 is at the end and then the road bends to the left and wraps around the clubhouse building....starting with building 9 so you are probably in buidling 13...I believe those may have 3 floors and not 2. So, a low number like 5 could be bottom floor, so you may have to walk downstairs to the unit. The main entrance is the second floor.

Any one of those building around the clubhouse are good location wise as far as views, some do and some don't. We have stayed in 9 three times and once in 20 something. They skipped some building numbers. That was off the main road around building 6 or so and off to the right. It was a bit of a walk with little ones to the pool.

I hope that gives you some idea.

I think building 1 is currently the only "pet friendly" building, that may have changed.

I was told that buildings near the activity centers have Sunday check in. Is that true? We have Saturday check in.

We have always checked in on a Saturday. All of building 9 checked in and out on Saturday last July when we were there.
