Recommendation for Hilton Head - 1 night?

Hi All

We are checking out of one Marriott this Saturday and into another one on Sunday, but need somewhere to stay Saturday night. I did check with marriott reservations but $180-$200 a night is just too much for us.

Can anyone recommend any of the Hilton Head hotels for a one night stay?

Looking for something clean and comfortable (and not too expensive). thanks for your help.

Resorts: Marriott Barony Beach & Marriott Harbour Point HHI Brewster Green Resort on Cape Cod
There is a Westin and also a Crown Plaza which are probably the same price range as Marriott. A Red Roof Inn on WM Hilton Pkwy on the island. Holiday Inn at the end of Pope Rd.

There is also Hampton Inn right next to Sun City 13 miles off island.

I can't recall others at the moment.

I would go to priceline and bid on the "resort" category. Good luck.

If you haven't been to Savannah I would check out early Saturday morning, drive to Savannah and check in (it is only about a 30-45 minute drive). I would spend the day on the trolley seeing all of the sights. I would spend the night at one of sooo many great restaurants and bars, and I would spend most of the day Sunday in Savannah seeing what I had missed Saturday. The trolley tickets are good for 2 days. I would recommend a bed and breakfast for the night, and there are many award winning B and B's there. We stayed at the Gastonian and have never been pampered like that in our lives. This is the Gastonian website, and there are numerous other award winning B and B's on this web site too. http://www.gastonian.com/

Do the Savannah thing for 2 days and you will wish you had spent more time there than you did in Hilton Head. The best part of our 7 day trip to Hilton Head was the 2 days we spent in Savannah.

Savannah is definitely a great idea, but if you plan to stay on the island and don't want to spend too much money, check into either Motel 6 or Red Roof Inn. They are both clean, basic accomodations and reasonably priced. I assume you do not plan to spend a lot of time in the room itself, right?

Thanks for all the great suggestions. A night in Savannah sounds like a good idea.

Resorts: Marriott's Manor Club Sequel Platinum, Marriott Grande Vista Platinum, Foxrun week 39
there is a brand new Residence Inn (Marriott) in Savannah's historic district that is showing a rate of $109 for a 1BR tonight.

Grande Ocean at $180 or HHI Marriott at $149 are also showing for today.

Paula Deen's restaurant is in Savannah in addition to the many historical homes, parks, and statues. If you want to eat at Paula Deen's, be prepared to stand in line for a while. It has lunch and supper on Saturdays but only lunch on Sundays. http://www.ladyandsons.com/index.php...content/hours/
