Smugglers Notch - Weeks to Points convert?
I am working on a deal for Smugglers Notch and was wondering if any current owners here have converted from weeks to points? We are thinking about it but they quoted a price of $3200 to do the conversion. I am thinking about saying no and seeing if the deal gets better down the road but if someone has gotten a better deal I just might counter offer.
Thanks- PJ |

Have not Converted
We own 2 weeks (1 fixed and 1 float) and did not convert because of the exhorbitant cost and the fact that weeks still works best for us.

We also did not convert for the same reasons.

Ditto on the not converting.
Would love the flexibility of points for non Smugglers trips, but not at that conversion price. |

I did convert half of my Smugglers weeks to points. I own a familyshare which is 8 fixed weeks and 8 float weeks. There was no way that I could take 8 weeks vacation to Disney every year.
Since I am a mult-week owner, the cost calculation worked differently. I paid $800/converted week to a maximum of $4000. This worked out to $500/converted week. If I'd converted all of my weeks, it would have been $250/week. Up until 2 months ago, points worked very well for me. Then, RCI changed its rules on how many points you could use with its points partners each year. This basically devalued my points by 2/3. I used up my points through 2010 before the rules changed. If RCI doesn't change the rules back in the next year or so, I will rethink my position on points at that time. |

I asked them to come down on the price and they told me no. Their reasoning was that they have higher costs managing the points system, work harder for their points owners and that it is a lifetime fee. They also made a point that they charge the same amount for everyone and it would not be fair to change it for one person.
It never hurts to ask ![]() |
