HGVC/RCI inquiry

I found the following statement from one of the old posts.

"HGVC uses a quality filter on RCI exchanges. The resorts you mentioned on this thread for trades were available outside that filter criteria. A regular call to HGVC would not get you that week. You have to request them to remove that filter to get the Darjeeling week."

Is this still true. Can someone explain what "filter" HGVC counslars use?


Also, other than choosing/looking from rci.com, does HGVC have any RCI affiliated resorts which we can choose from their web site or do they give any members guide/directory for RCI resorts (just like HGVC members guide)

Once you become HGVC owner, they will send you guide book for RCI use.
HGVC try to maintain their members get only highly rated RCI resorts (because HGVC resorts are one of the top quality resorts in RCI system), so even if members want to stay at "not highly rated resort", HGVC cannot see them (or doesn't let them) due to filtered search.

HGVC's directory of preferred RCI resorts is primarily limited to Gold and Silver Crown resorts (with a few exceptions). If you ask a CSR to check an area, they look for these first. You can ask them to widen their search to any available or name one, but they will warn you that it may be lacking in HGVC quality.

Its like having a parent trying to tell you who you can and cannot date. But at least there's no curfew.
