welk resort villas san diego?

I confirmed an exchange today into the Welk Resort Villas. I have read some of the reviews and just looking for more feedback. We will have our 3 girls, 10,4,3. Is their a kids club? Are the pools great? Any recent photos? The ones on the review site, look a little dated, Does anyone know if the units have been recently refurbished? Any recommendation on a section or unit to request? How will this resort compare to Marriott or Starwood resorts in terms of quality? Thanks for the help.

As a member of both Marriott and Welk, the grounds are both very comparable. The Welk Resort is actually larger with about 5 different clubhouses with adjoining pools. The boulders pool has a great water slide, but is the most crowded. However, they are finishing a new complex with a larger water slide. If interested,there is a small lake to fish. Also, each clubhouse has different events for the kids. On Thurs night, they screen a movie outdoors for the kids. Finally, the San Diego Wild animal Park is great for the kids and close.
In regards to the different suites, the resort villas as the oldest, however, I read that they just rehab them.

We own there and were last there in the older units in 2007. They had all been refurbished at that time and we like the older units the best. They are very, very large (about 1400 sq. feet) and spacious, relaxing and quiet.
