I just came back from 2 weeks vacation and received a message on my answering machine. It was from Jim Lee and it gave a telephone number. When I called the number the voice mail message said you have reached Vacation Trade and to leave a message for the representative that called you.

The message I received stated that they are calling about my weeks I have with RCI. Jim said that a lot of professional companies are looking for weeks as timeshare weeks for rental and in great demand and wanted to know if I wanted to sell or rent my weeks.

Has anybody else received such a call. I am not calling and leaving a message as I know they are probably a post card company looking for me to pay them to sell or rent my timeshare weeks.

I doubt that it's a PostCard Company --- that's just not at all their m.o.
More likely it's another upfront fee reseller of some sort, since the nonsense rap of "companies looking to buy timeshares" and "anxious buyers waiting in the wings" is a tired, well worn (and never true) ruse.

The bigger question is how these monkeys got your phone number at all. Your FLB resort is VRI managed and VRI is generally and historically very good at protecting owner info and privacy. Unless you have "for sale" or "for rent" ads posted somewhere with your phone number, RCI would be high on my suspect list for an "info leak", but that's pure speculation.

Sounds like scam to me. Maybe they will tell you that you need to pay $xxx.xx for the listing.

I don't know about Vacation Trade but there are other flight-by-night operators of fraudulent sales/rental schemes. In case you get a call or an email from Chris Norris, a self styled 'sales executive' of Fairfield Beach Inc., now operating from Oakland Park, Fl., you should know it's an elaborate scam. Don't deal with them. Just turn around and run !

You are right about RCI leaking the information. He did mention RCI in part of his conversation. I do not have any advertisments out and use my timeshares on a regular basis.
