Wink Rental car info in FL...Important info

My wife and I will be renting a car in West Palm Beach for 13 days. I called Hertz to find out how much it costs for my wife to be a driver on the account. They told me it would be $13 per day..But if we both have AAA, there is no charge..Well, that was FANTASTIC news.....Keep this in mind when renting in FL.........

ps...We've been going 2 FL for years, and never knew this..

You might want to look at your regional AAA website or call your AAA office to check their Hertz rates. Hertz is AAA's preferred rental company, so renting thru AAA instead of Hertz directly may get you a better rate.

OTOH, I have found tha AARP's travel website gets me better discounts than AAA from other, less pricey car rental companies, such as Avis, Budget, National, etc.

Interestingly enough, when we picked up our Priceline rental from Hertz here in California, they told me my wife was a covered driver automatically with that reservation. Since my wife won't drive in a strange town I've never worried about it before but, it's nice to know. I'll have to check the Priceline site to see if this is a normal benefit for Priceline customers.

Yes, This is why I specified FLORIDA. In Fl., there is always a charge for another driver... Sad, but true...

I had already booked through Priceline, getting the lowest price of any other company; including AAA and AARP.
I was assigned Hertz, through Priceline...

FYI, Alamo renters who use the Costco discout get a free additional driver included in the rate.

Also, National allows your spouse to drive free if you are an Emerald Club member. (Registration for most of the loyalty clubs is completely free.)

My wife and I just returned from a Florida trip. We flew into Ft. Lauderdale and rented a car for 6 days from Enterprise (off airport) and drove round trip to Key West. The total cost was $191 with no extra charge for my wife as the second driver.

Thanx for bringing this to my attention..... I found that it's not Florida, but the rental company that charges the fee or not....
Alamo---$9.95
Hertz---$13 per day w/ a max of $65
Some companies charge nothing; Enterprise being one of them. And some charge for another driver, other than a spouse...

But, I also found the prices to be extremely high when there is no fee...Except in your case...Nonetheless, I'm only paying $255 for 13 days in mid-April...Not bad.
