SFO Airport/Northwest Terminal Question

My 18yr old son has to fly home separate from our family from Hawaii. We are not familiar with SFO airport. Is 35 minutes enough time in between flights at the Northwest Terminal in SFO? Flight is HNL to SFO to Minneapolis. It shows as a valid flight schedule when booked on the NWest website. I am hoping someone here has flown this route. I have not booked it yet. Thanks for any info.

If the arriving flight is on time, and if he is one of the first to de-plane, it should be sufficient to make the connection. What is the alternative?

This flight allows for him to meet up with us in MSP to continue on to our final airport together. Otherwise, he takes a completely different path, arriving home hours later. From the terminal map, it appears that Northwest arrivals and departures stay in one area. If it is anything like O'Hare, then I will forgo this flight, and find him something else.

The way SFO is set up airlines are confined to "one" terminal. It's not like Dulles where you need to take the transport thing from one terminal to another to make connections. But, even being in the same terminal, 35 minutes is not much time and if there is any any delay, or it takes him awhile to get off the plane, he might not make the connection. You might want to check with Northwest and see what happens in that instance. Will they hold the plane if they know they have someone who needs to make the connection? Would they put him on the next flight? I don't think SFO has a great on time record if I remember correctly. But don't take my word on that, I may be remembering something incorrectly.
