Harborside Phase I Re-furbishment [MERGED]

Any updates on the refurbishment at Harborside. I have heard that it is being done in 2009. Has it started? What are the changes that are being made. We are going next month and would love some info! Thanks!

Harborside Updates?

We're going to Harborside in November 2009 and wanted to know if any people have any updates.

I heard that they were planning to do some refurbishments in Fall 2008 of some of the Harborside buildings that were a bit run-down/out-dated. Anyone know if that was successfully completed or not? If successful, which buildings got updated?

Also which building(s) have the best view of Atlantis & Marina? Trying to tell which would be good to try and request.

I think I just read something that I didn't realize before....

Because we're going to check-in on a friday..that means we can only be in Building 6 or 2 ?

The building you get put in is partially decided by your check-in day. And friday-checkins only go in buildings 6 & 2 ?

Another question. I am renting from an owner in Phase 1. This is their week. Our check-in is on Sunday. Does this mean we will be assigned to a phase I unit? The owner tolfd me that the unit is assigned on check-in. Does that mean they don't own a specific unit number? Any answers are appreciated!

Yes - On Sunday in Phase I, you should be assigned to Bldg. 1 - map

The owner told me that the unit is assigned on check-in. Does that mean they don't own a specific unit number?

Yes - Starwood timeshares are sold as floating units, you can pay big bucks to fix the unit, but it's rare.

I have been told the fall--they have already done some things that aren't obvious--replacing all the air conditioning units. I figure they will do it in the fall when it is less crowded--of course we had previously been told it was the fall of 08. The last Starwood newsletter we got--with our bills I think--talked about it being done also.

I am not a starwoods owner but did get a great rental from an owner. We spent February vacation at Harborside. The units definately need to be updated. If you are interested in the Atlantis I personally think staying at Harborside is preferable. You get all of Atlantis ammenities but have the advantage of a private pool with no crowding.

The units in Harborside need updating, especially the bathrooms which obviously get the most wear and tear. I was a little surprised on how discolored the drinking water is, made it impossible to drink and hard to use their jacuzzi tubs. I just could not get into brown water.

All in all, you have a beautiful resort with great size units and close proximity to Atlantis but you really should endorse upgrading those units.

Brown water???--I hope you reported it. We have been going as owners since 2001 and never experienced this. We always drink the water also==bring crystal light to make lemonade--trust me if it had been brown I would have been on the phone to the front desk in an instant!
