Exclamation Flying to Paris this May is cheap now!

Repeat to self: I must be good. I must not let myself be tempted by r/t fare of $650 (incl. taxes & junk fees) til the end of May. I must stay strong. I must not let temptation be my guide. Must destroy computer so I will not be tempted to book one of these cheap r/t tix for Paris.

Thanks for reminding me to check fairs - I received a $155 travel credit for my CO flight to Paris in May!

I booked it last August when the fairs "dipped" to $800, now at $527.

I just cancelled my Easter flights to Athens on Delta (booked them last June) which I was able to get a complete refund because THEY cancelled our flight and then switched us all around to unsatisfactory flights until I complained so much they offered me a complete refund. I wasn't going to take the refund, but then this post popped into my head and I started researching my options on the internet.

But I rebooked yesterday for the same dates to fly from Detroit to Athens and got the airfare for HALF what I paid last June. Instead of $1,431 each (which was the going rate) I found fares for $592 +taxes/fees which equalled $719 per person! Holy smokes. I have NEVER seen fares that low to Greece, and certainly not during a holiday period. So for flying 5 people....cancelling the Delta tickets for $7,095......repurchasing on Northwest for $3,580.....I get a whopping
$3,515
as a credit on my Visa 3 weeks before we leave on our Greek trip. THAT will pay for everything there....and then some.

I found the really cheap promo fares yesterday on the Northwest website. They didn't show up on Orbitz, I had to go directly to the website.

Hope this helps someone else!

Thank you so much Debi for posting this! I used the offer code you provided and found a $780 (including all taxes) ticket to Frankfurt for the first week in august. I just put in a request for an exchange to vienna or prague. Thanks to your post, our tour of eastern europe will come together after all! It was very nice of you to share the info

Wow! Glad to be of service! Would you believe that last year....first week in August....we paid in the $1,400 range for tickets to Germany (Detroit to Munich). Yours is MUCH better!

Recent posts on here about Hawaii airfares going down is what made me scurry around and end up rebooking my sky-high fares (which I originally thought were good) and saving over $3,500 by doing so. Unbelievable! And here I thought the days of reasonable airfares were over....I guess this is their last gasp.
