Thank You Northwest Airlines

They had massive schedule changes this past week affecting our upcoming New Orleans and Hawaii trips. While their initial attempts to "help" were less than desirable, they were more than accommodating to help take care of our arrangements. For both trips I was able to get what we originally wanted, but opted against due to pricing.

For the New Orleans' trip, it worked out perfectly and saved us about $75pp. For Hawaii, however, it was several hundred . . . $300pp to be exact!!

Thank you very much!

A recent change in Nothwest's schedule would have caused us to miss our connecting flight to Hawaii. The flight was booked by Continental using Onepass miles.

Continental gave me my choice of flights without any charge. I chose the direct flight on Continental and was happy with the change.

Our "change" had us getting into the hub city 45 minutes AFTER our connection would be leaving for Honolulu! They didn't even try to fix it, just put a red "schedule change" flag on the reservation online so I called them. With my New Orleans' changes, they rescheduled as they saw fit, but also allowed for further adjusting, which I did on the outbound.

This has happened to us twice. Last year Air Canada changed our schedule and had us coming back from Dublin the day before our Glasgow to Dublin flight. We called to make the change as they never indicated in the notice that this was inconsistent. This weekend we had a schedule change from Aer Lingus indicating our flight for next July from Glasgow to Dublin arrives 3 hours after the Dublin-Boston leaves. Same thing, just the schedule listing but no mention of calling to fix it. As a programmer myself, I know it would be very easy to have a line of code which flags such inconsistencies but it sounds like none of the airlines are willing to make that change. Passengers need to be aware of these inconsistencies.

NWA has always been an airline that would go the extra mile, but as the Delta mindset takes over, and more restrictive rules take effect, their staff will have more limited options. That is one of many reasons that I have done a complimentary status match to CO. Here is a good flyer on how to do status matches if you have elite status on DL or NW:
