Credit for TS stays

It appears that Marriott has reversed their stance and is now giving stay credits for stays at your home resort.

Granted, 7 nights credit wouldn't do anything for most of us here, but for those who do routinely use Starwood hotels, those 7 nights might push them over the edge to platinum status.

Given how hotel chains routinely tweak their reward systems based on what their competitors are doing, it might make sense for some to contact Starwood with this information and request a similar benefit. After all, why shouldn't TS stays count towards SPG status? SPG folks sure use our TSs to their advantage.

That would be great! It would sure be nice if Starwood followed Marriots' lead. When the regulars(some, not all) at flyertalk hear about this they will most certainly slam us timesharers. They HATE the fact that people get plat. status through timeshare purchase!

Slam all they want - We spend 21-28 nights a year (42 nights this year) in our SVO TSs (and are only Gold) - and we pay for them dearly through my MFs (more than most of them pay). What is the difference? Most FTers SPG stays are paid with company money, or as a business write-off. Ours comes straight out of our pocket.

I rec'd Marriott credit for stays 3-4 years ago... not sure why this is a new policy for them... Starwood would do well by emulating this perk.

Were you an owner? The change is that they are giving owners stay credit.

No, I was on II Getaways' and trades.

I have been getting credit for my owner stays at Ko Olina for the last two years.
