so I purchased a time share a week ago, and the estimated closing date is May 01 2009. I was told about a month to 45 days. Well the deed has been completed, I just signed final papers and sent final payment. Not sure how long the next step will be, but man this is way quicker than I had expected.

I already booked my 2009 points for a wedding in Vegas. I am sharing a 2 bedroom with my parents, so they are paying half the MF for me. I canceled the 2 hotel rooms that I had booked at the Flamingo today. The 2 rooms were 1600 US, and now im going for the week for 750 and i am only paying half of that.

I love it, the way I look at it, im already saving 425 US this year plus the 375 that my parents have kicked in for the MF. I would say that this is a great start to the TS world.

Are you saying that one week after signing the buyer's contract you already have your HGVC membership so that you can make bookings?

How did you book your 2009 points? I am still waiting for my deed to be recorded and would like to make my reservation for this christmas...

no I am not able to book yet on my own, but have had some help from a wonderful agent. Anyways, the final closing date is for May 1st, but after one week, I have completed everything that needs to be completed. I just really thought that it was going to be spread out over 30 to 45 days. At this rate, I really think that I should be seeing things done in the next 2 weeks at the most.

We were able to join HGVC very quickly. Last Thursday I was e-mailed the enrollment form. We filled it out, sent it back Friday morning. By Tuesday, I had my member number and could go online - even though she said it could take several weeks to get everything into the system, etc. It is fun to play around in and check out. Enjoy and congratulations!

wow that is great. I cant wait to get everything. I have never been so excited about a purchase like I am with this TS.

We have a fixed event week with option to float, so now that the system shows everything correctly - we have 0 points, so can't see as much as we could when it first showed we had no reservations and 7000 yearly points. Still can look at the open season though - interesting and seems like lots of availability.

From what we've been told... If you choose the "change reservations" option (even if you do not intend to do so), the system will display the availability that it won't for no points.

sounds like my TS is closing on Monday, 1 week to close on this TS,not to bad, first one, so nothing to compare it to.

The change option will do as you say, unfortunately, "Home Resort Season" reservations are not changeable by default. Only "Club Season" reservations are changeable. My guess is that as an "event week" has been booked, it is really a Home Season reservation, and he won't have the "change reservation" option. However, I have seen point availability show up after April 1, because you could borrow points from 2011 at that point to book early 2010 "Club Season". I just can't remember if it will show you this years availability because of those 2010 points being there.

Yes, you are right that the reservations are not changeable. There is an * that tells us that right on the screen. We are most likely going to cancel our 2010 reservation as our plan was to travel at xmas every other year. So, then we will probably have things to look at once we do that (I think anyway).

Thanks for the advice.
Patty
