Advice please on Canyonview Resort, Phoenix, Az

We are considering booking Canyonview Resorts @ South Mtn Preserve located at the base of South Mountain in Phoenix's South Mountain Preserve. The resort was previously known as Whispering Rock Resort. How would you rate the quality of accomodation ? RCI provides the following warning: SOME UNITS ARE FULLY RENOVATED, OTHERS ARE PARTIALLY RENOVATED. There is no indication of the present ( 2009) status of any renovation activity, only a warning:
ONGOING CONSTRUCTION AS RESORT REFURBISHES UNITS. I am interested in the most recent status of this renovation work and would such work interfere with normal resort enjoyment in the fall of 2009 ? Thanks.

Some Tripadvisor comments are negative, others positive. My interest is in the current status of renovation and upgrade, not a year ago.

Was just there for a seminar

I was there two weeks ago for a seminar, late afternoon. Since I arrived before the bar opened, I snooped around. It seems (somewhat to my surprise) very nice. It appeared as if rennovation had slowed due to the economy. There was construction there (they shut down early around 2:00 in this area), but nothing that should impact your stay. I suspect you will get one of the new units, and I would be surprised if you did not enjoy your stay.
