Just did an RCI online trade to HGVC in Breckenridge for June 5-12, 2010. 2 bedroom unit.

Used a Jamaican on the Gulf, 1 Bedroom unit, week 4 for 2009, which I had deposited a year early in 2008.

Thought I better grab it, while it was available. Could have also gotten with a Resort on Cocoa beach, Oct 2009 week.

That is pretty low season there -- just getting out of "mud" season. A lot of the summer alpine activities on the mountains (downhill mountian biking, alpine slides, etc.) do not open until around the third week of June. There may still be snow on some wooded hiking trails, and it will be quite chilly, especially at night. The outdoor pool may not be open yet -- you might call to check. But Breckenridge has a big indoor aquatics center as an alternative.

But the town is wonderful and Valdoro is top notch -- I'm sure you will find plenty to do. I just wanted to set your expectations correctly.

Thanks for your note.

We are retired and plan to visit Rocky Mountain Park, and take in the scenery and wildlife.

Take a narrow gauge RR train ride nearby. A chuck wagon dinner and show. Visit local shops and restaurants.

The temps will be cooler and that will be fine. Valdoro will be a nice base for us.

Congrats. You should have a great time.

Valdoro is an oddity in the HGVC system. It was constucted independently, and its owners threw in with the HGVC system and thus, it adopted the moniker of a HGVC-resort, as if it had always been one.

Sounds like you will have a good time. The Georgetown Loop Railroad is a great adventure -- is that the one you were referring to? It is about a 35 - 40 minute drive from Breckenridge. Glenwood Springs is just a ways further up the interstate, and is a very scenic and interesting place where you can experience the natural hot springs.

Valdoro itself is great. The rooms are a bit on the small side, but very well furnished. They were updated with new furniture and flat-panel TVs last year. And I can't say enough about the staff -- they are great! I have been averaging about 4 ski weekends a year there for the last few years, and have never had a negative experience. Enjoy!

summer music

We haven't been in a few years, do they still have music performences during the week? We loved the recreation center the last time we went.

There is a great train excursion in Leadville which is just southwest of Breckenridge. Leadville is a small town with many interesting shops. Altitude is 10,400 compared to Breckenridge at 9600. (need to drink plenty of water)
We spend three weeks in Breckenridge (Valdoro) a year (Winter, Summer and Fall) and it is one of our favorites. Everything in town is within walking distance.
