Featured this a.m. on the Today Show

That isn't a bad video and had solid advice. I still think they should give Redweek and My Resort Network as sites for a person to sell, and they should be mentioning TUG, too, of course. :)

you get a tax writeoff to auction it off? orly?

most resorts will take it back? orly?

other than that, it was better than most media regarding timeshares! and got the message to never pay the upfront fee!

Some other goofy pieces of information:

1) There is a bulletin board in every resort where you can pin a notice. WHAT? She should have said a newsletter, if there is one, is a good way to get someone to take a week you don't want.

2) She doesn't give the correct website for Bidshares, she says Bidshare.

3) 30-50% is too generous for a timeshare resale.

4) I don't really pay my maintenance fees, Month in and Month out.
and

5) What you mentioned, Brian, handing a resort a quitclaim deed, and most will take it back? Not really, as you said.

I liked almost all of the information, even with my criticism.

Thanks for the link!

Thanks for the link to the piece I heard today on the Today Show. I tried to find it and posted the wrong link but the one I posted had some good info, too!

I posted in haste because I was short on time but wanted to get that piece some attention if anyone could find it for me. Thanks again!

I went into the links they noted in the piece. I hadn't been there before - but some of the people who have their TS's listed on Bidshares.com are living in dreamland. Do you think they'll get the hint when their TS's don't sell?

Sadly those people fall into the mindset that the timeshare just simply cant be sold, making them even easier victims for certain organizations who feed off that fear.

Cindy, many little independent resorts have a bulletin board on the premises where you can put your timeshare up for sale or for rent so people can contact you directly.

We have noticed the same at other timeshares too where we do not own. The resort does this to accommodate the owners. These are extra little touches you will get at a small resort.

You may want to do the same where you manage. :)
