Thinking of going there over xmas (with 2 teens, 1 college, 1 high school). Any suggestions on...

1. Accomodations - RCI or II?
2 Activities-esp hiking zip line tours; don't know too much about hiking in PV but you could do a boat tour to Quimixto and either hike or horseback to the waterfall, you could also do some hiking at the botanical gardens; fishing; snorkeling is only fair but there are plenty of fun boat trips;
3. Restraunts - dining in PV is wonderful, soooo many great restaurants, any preference on type of food or view, location?

thanks
One other question, all inclusive or not?

3. Restraunts (El Pescatore at Paradise Village

Roberto's Puerto Nuevo Puerto Vallarrta
Cafe de Olla Puerto Vallarta
Karens Bucerias)

thanks

Grand Mayan in Nuevo Vallarta (Has Lazy River Big Slide and lots of Pools)
We have also stayed at the Westin Club Regina in Marina Vallarta which is nice

Thanks Barbeque and Timesharejunkie4.

I will probably pay cash as I am trying for xmas, unless someone wants to trade withme...

I have 2 II resorts Westin KORV-North and Marriott Grand Vista 3 bedroom and 1 RCI DVC Beach club.

I think I would prefer dining out as to a all inclusive.

Is the drinking water ok there? How will the weather/water temp be in December?

I will probably pay cash as I am trying for xmas, unless someone wants to trade withme... Sorry I don't have week 51 or 52 so cannot trade with you. Why not look at the exchanges in the Marketplace or contact owners on the Direct Exchange List and see what you can do? Or you could check out Tug and Redweek, for example, for rentals.

I think I would prefer dining out as to a all inclusive. Good choice, the dining is too good to limit yourself to all inclusive IMHO

Some of the nicest non-timeshare resorts are Nuevo Vallarta which is too far from PV for my liking. I'm not really familiar with the hotels since we always stay in our timeshare. Fiesta Americana and Villa del Palmar are in the hotel zone which make it easy to get into town by bus or cab plus the beach is decent there. There's the Marriott and the Westin in the marina which are nice hotels but beaches aren't as good.

We liked Villa del Palmar Flamigos in Nuevo Vallarta. From here you can go to Sayulita or Bucerias pretty easy with a car. Sayulia is a surfing town and Bucerias is a little market. Both have restaurants on the beach. The teens will like Sayulita. You can surf, fish or just lay about.

Drinking water is safe in Puerto Vallarta but all the resorts have filtered water anyway.

Here is a link with lots of information.

We have mainly used Vallarta Adventures for our tours and have always liked them. We have used some smaller ones too but can't remember the names.

As for the resorts, there are many nice ones but it depends where you want to stay. The marina area is central to downtown as well as to Nuevo Vallarta and close to the airport too. The beaches at Nuevo Vallarta are much nicer so if the beach is important to you then that is something to think about.
