Airtran - will they issue credit if price drops?

One of my friends has the worst luck in the world--seriously. In this case, three of us gals reserved the flight for our annual trip with Airtran on the evening of 6/11 and got a fare of $129 each way. Friend with bad luck wasn't able to reserve until the a.m. of 6/12--no $129 fare for her, she had to pay $179! She called in when she couldn't get our same fare online and was told nope, no way no how, the fare was now $179, and since the flights were already pretty full she'd better book or might have to pay even more.

Today, Airtran announces a "sale" and yep, the flights are now shown at $129 again. Three days after she was told no way.

I know USAirways will, if asked, issue a credit voucher if the airfare drops and you jump through some hoops to get the credit. Does anyone know if Airtran does the same? I'd like my bad-luck friend to be armed with some info before she calls; othewise, with her luck, who knows what might happen

I'm always surprised that any airline (with the exception of Southwest) will issue any kind of refund. Her best best is to call AirTran.

They may, but they may charge her a change fee, wiping out the savings.
Airlines sell seats like a garage sale -- early birds snap up the best seats, late comers get deals on the crumbs, and everyone in the middle pays the sticker price. It bites, but over the long-haul, $50 won't make or break a vacation.
