I seem to recall reading in here many years ago about people who collected/saved their MVC key cards back when they put photos on them. I found a few in my son's old room and I'm wondering if I should throw them out. I have 3 Grande Vista (2 different pictures), one Ko' Olina Beach Club, and one Aruba Surf Club.

Nice to see you are still collecting these. I remember trading with you way back when. Its a shame they discontinued this practice along with the hats and wristbands  in favor of the generic corporate branding.

I’m relatively certain thats because people were collecting them rather than turning them back in at checkout. With generic cards, there’s no reason to collect/keep them so less cost to produce them when they disappear. I still miss the old brand specific key cards and dislike the generic cards. I also miss the resort specific wrist band room keys. I realize it’s cheaper to only produce the generic wrist bands but I was semi-sort of collecting the resort specific wrist bands, which meant I was spending $ and contributing more to CMN with each stay.

Yeah, kinda the same reason that most hotels don't use branded towels. Even up to several years ago you might find a property specific pen in the room with the notepad. Now they all seem to just be generic pens for the hotel brand. I guess people were taking them and they were going through too many location specific pens. Saves them money in both production cost and the need for fewer pens if they just have generic ones. That said, we still usually swipe the pen.
