As much as I dislike going to presentations, we attended one this past week. (required for our 3 night stay) For the first time, we had an agent who was helpful, probably because he is retiring the end of the year.

Any way, it was bombshell time. We had bought a ten year product, for 7500 pts a year, to have access to Sedona, as Diamond pretty much has control of the whole area. (Hyatt is the exception) I thought we had purchased 10 yrs. of use that EXPIRED at the end of ten years. WRONG! Found out that there are three options available at the end of our contract:

1) notify them you are going to walk away
2) do nothing and you are tied to them with an every other year contract for 7500 pts.
3) upgrade to a Hilton package

It will be time, to go back over the contract, when we return home, to determine exactly how and when to proceed.

Just thought some of you might want to know. We got caught not reading the fine print, due to a family crisis that occurred while we were sitting in the presentation. Lesson learned. They are so tricky. (So, now I have looked at the fine print. It would have been nice if it was laid out as nicely as I have laid it out here. The only item that stands out in the contract is "walking away." There is a mention of use of 7500 pts., but it doesn't say every other year. It does look like that would be the only resort we have access to. So odd and the document is organized very poorly. I did finally locate the name of the resort, we are tied to. It is called Mystic Dunes and is in Florida.)
