I have seen a few articles recently about DVC's new Timeshare Trust and was wondering what the general feeling is about their new product. I have link one of the aricles below that is put together by a timeshare reseller .

Since the OKW date is rapidly approaching, Disney will likely take all of that inventory and add it to this trust. It's a win-win for Disney because they get it back without paying anything at all for it, and we as owners will have to pay big bucks to join. Fortunately, we will be too old to care, but our daughter is on the deed, and she and her family may have to decide if owning Disney is something they want.

My feeling is that we need to wait for DVC to publish actual sales offers, points charts, and other documents that will tell us how this will actually work. There is a lot of speculation out there, based on the documents that have been filed with the state of Florida, but as always the devil will be in the details, and we won't know how this trust will work until DVC tells us.

I just received (and answered) a survey from Disney Destinations Research. While most of the questions were similar to ones I've received in the past (e.g. how happy are you and how much to you use your points for things other than staying at the resorts), there were a bunch of questions that...

There was also a little discussion in the DVC Exchange thread but not much. A lot more discussion happening on DisBoards.

IMO, this trust has 100% been setup to support the sale of Cabins at Fort Wilderness. While there is the potential for more, right now there is nothing more. Just the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. Many have hypothesized that they needed to set up the trust in this situation because the cabins are not real property. They needed a different ownership method because it simply works differently than other DVC resorts that are leasehold condominiums.

I apologize if this is already being discussed somewhere here, I searched and did not see anything.

That article makes a lot of assumptions and states them as facts. We don't really know much about the trust other than what is filed. DVC has yet to make any announcement about it and I doubt they will. They'll just start selling Cabins at Fort Wilderness points. To the buyer, the back end mechanism of ownership really doesn't matter much. Points are points.
