Has anyone out there used or tried to use the Transitions program that Diamond/Hilton offer to get out of your timeshare? I have been a Diamond member for a long time and am thinking of trying to get out of this timeshare. Since Hilton took over Diamond, they want me to buy more points to become part of HGV Max, but I really don't want to dump a bunch more money into timeshares. And I am guessing Hilton is no different than most other timeshares. High pressure sales people and maintenance fees that keep going up.

if you are a long time owner then you have had good use of your timeshare, nothing has changed you can still use it as you have in the past. Most of us here are not impressed with Max, you do not need to join.

The other option is to use the free giveaway forum here to advertise your timeshare, someone may be interested in taking it over rather than giving it back to DRI to resell.

About two weeks ago spent an hour and 45 min on the phone with them and got "approved" to deed back a bi-annual week at Varsity Clubs of America Tucson. Diam. Resorts bought ILX corporation and they in turn were out by Hilton. They are sending the forms in the mail and hopefully will get them within 60 days. The fee was $250 and you have to qualify: no mortgage, MF's paid, not working with outside company to get rid of it, no reservations etc. We'll see what happens

Congratulations. However, for others, It's $1000 per contract if you are not in Arizona. I used the Transitions years ago to dump two $$$$$$ contracts for $250 each but shortly after that they raised the price to $1000.

I originally bought a deed in Hawaii in 2003 with Sunterra. Diamond bought them out at some point. We then switched from a deeded property to being in the US Trust (if I remember correctly). There is no mortgage and MF's are paid. I am just sick of how much the MF's are and how much they keep increasing. I hear that Diamond is one of the highest.

If you are in Arizona OR the timeshare is located in Arizona then the fee is only $250. This is the result of a lawsuit settlement between the AZ attorney general and DIamond Resorts several years ago.

I tried once in October and they said no, i had to pay the next year before i could use Transitions. So i stopped paying MF instead.

I did not have a loan but after of a year of threatening letters they offered to take my deeded week back at no cost to me. They sent me a deed and I signed it over to them. Done.

Not sure, i don't use credit so it wouldn't matter.
