I am just curious as to who would be wanting to make these kinds of single night reservations as a guest. You can't get in to the room till 4pm and have to be out by 11am. Seems like a lot of cash for just a night.
I’ve done this before when I didn’t have enough points to make a reservation for all the nights myself and needed to grab an extra night to link with my current one (you can link the reservations by calling member services to avoid changing rooms). Or it could be a deluxe extra evening hours night and the person just really wants access to the parks for that night.

But it's two days of staying 'on property' in the eyes of Disney. So you can take advantage of the various ILL/Genie+/ADR benefits Disney offers. For example, while booking a Dining Reservation at 61 days out isn't as good as 70, it is a *lot* better than fighting with everyone else at 60 days.

Lots of Disney nerds- myself included- especially for special events, new rides, new restaurants, upgrading room size or adding a night passing through the area.

Plus you get free waterpark entry now on check-in day. So go to resort early, check bags and catch bus to waterpark, return get your room and get some food, get up early, check your bags and head out for early entry.

While the above is possible, anymore I try for three nights minimum for DVC or nay stay really. This rule does not apply to Grand Californian as I am willing to book one night. Did this for an upcoming trip for 4th of July. Lucky for me as the weeks have passed I have been able to get two more nights including the 4th, for a three nights in a studio. But since we also reserved Worldmark Anahiem I was more than willing to stay just one night and even use points for both rooms if I had to (in the end I modified WM to remove the overlap days). The Grand Cal is in a whole different DVC category in my mind.
