What's the best way to go about purchasing an EOY resale Marriott timeshare? I'm most interested in Hilton Head (Grand Ocean) and Frenchman's Cove (St Thomas). Other suggestions are welcomed. I already own Marriott Surf Club Gold and am looking to complement that with another beach oriented, solid location which is also good trader.. Your thoughts?

You've picked some good ones but I'm not sure that every Marriott has EOY units. I'd like to know the answer to that myself. EOY's with a lockoff feature are even better because you can schedule a vacation somewhere every year.

If you want to find a resale unit you should peruse through all the usual sites (see the links at the top of the buying, selling and renting forum) and contact brokers such as Shelly (transactionrealty.com) and Jessica (timesharing2000.com). They will probably be able to advise you as to availability of what you are considering.

As to which area is better- do you prefer HH or St. Thomas to visit/use? Keep in mind that neither are lock-offs. Also- trading strength depends on season purchased (actually, the specific week reserved) and you should base your purchase on when you want to use it.

Grande Ocean does not have EOY weeks. Barony and SW don't either from what I recall but I seem to recall that they did sell a few at Barony late in the game. I don't recall hearing or seeing anything about EOY at SW but given it's a newer resort, they could have.

MFC has EOY weeks but there are no lockouts there. I've been looking to get another EOY there but I've never seen one for sale resale. I believe they are about 13k now with the MVCI owner discount promotion. I don't think you'll find too many for sale until this promotion ends.

EOY BeachPlace

I bought an EOY Gold at BeachPlace in Ft Lauderdale a year ago on ebay for 2,000. We like that resort very much, although you will find it has its detractors as well. Have not tried to trade it yet, but my sense is that it will be a "mid-range" trader.... It all depends on the week you have to offer, of course... The nice thing about the EOY lockoffs is the ability to lockoff and trade for two studios or 1 br's.... thus turning a two bedroom EOY into an annual (if smaller) unit...

Off to Ocean Watch Friday - hope Hurricane Bill behaves!!

Regards to all

Wesley
