What is your take on why RCI has slashed the cost to get into DVC lately?
My recollection is that this (or something like it) has happened before, and it is seasonal. And, if you've ever seen
Skier Pete's DisBoard thread on DVC availability, it makes sense. The period from just after the Marathon weekend until Food & Wine starts is much less in demand than the period from the start of F&W through the Marathon. And, the first period is what is being deposited now. With less internal demand, more of this time of year is being deposited, pushing supply up and TPU values down. Likewise, it seems reasonably clear that families planning vacations do so mostly in the late winter/early spring for the summer period, and they are not thinking about that so much between Thanksgiving and the winter holidays, because so much other stuff is going on. So, this is likely also a time of lower-than-average demand by people searching for DVC (or anything else for that matter), also pushing TPU values down.
I suspect that by the time we hit the end of spring, values will be back up, because deposits dry up and more people are looking.
