Use existing RCI weeks account, or create new?

We're waiting for confirmation from Wyndham that they've registered the new title for our two Kona Coast II weeks, removing my late mother and adding my sister and me to the deed but keeping my dad as well (the three of us are joint tenants with right of survivorship). My dad has an RCI weeks membership that he uses to deposit and exchange these weeks, and my sister and I have the login information.

Once Wyndham confirms they've changed the title on their end, is there a procedure we go through with RCI to add my sister and me as owners on the same RCI account, or should we open a new RCI account for the three of us? (My dad converted a different timeshare to Wyndham points and added my brother to that membership, but my brother has had to buy guest certificates in order to stay at the exchanges he's made, and we certainly want to avoid that!)

TIA!

You should contact RCI. Is your Father’s membership near renewal?
They offer RCI platinum upgrade but if you want the same membership they should be able to add your names and remove your Mother from the account.
Good luck and sorry for your loss.

You should reach out to RCI to see what your options are. I’m thinking they won’t allow 2 or 3 accounts for the one owned week.

Plus, why bother? You have access already, no need to pay multiple membership fees.

You should though ensure rci has all your names as owners so you don’t have to buy guest cents for exchanges or extra vacations.

If other family members have a different last name or address this can be an issue. On our RCI account the only option is to have my husband's name show up on our reservations as his is the first name on our deeds and account. I have never had any problems checking in without him but I do have the same last name and address.

We ran into this situation when I wanted to book two units at a Wyndham resort through RCI for the same week to be able to include two other couples who wanted to join us and the couple who were already going. Wyndham doesn't allow more than one reservation for the same or overlapping dates in the same person's name. I inquired about having my name on the second reservation and was told there was no option other than to use the first name on the account even though I am also listed on the account and I would have to pay for a guest certificate to do that. I didn't ask to speak to a supervisor as I got the distinct impression this is something they don't budge on.

Has anyone else run into this?

If you are booking through RCI NOT wyndham that rule should not apply. That is a rule in Wyndham software for Wyndham booking not for RCI bookings, AFAIK. Are you saying the Wyndham version RCI rep was asking you to pay for a GC on the RCI side?

Book 1 unit. Hang up and call again to book second unit with someone else. Or book them yourself online at RCI.

The Wyndham rule about no more than one reservation in one name for the same or overlapping dates does apply whether you book your stay through Wyndham or RCI. When the reservations come into the resort's system, the system sees multiple reservations in the same name. That was what I was told by RCI, Wyndham and the resort.

Regardless of who all is on the RCI account the reservations only show the main name on the RCI account. To change that to another name on the account requires a guest certificate.

Thanks everyone. I guess we’ll wait until the smoke clears from the title change in relation to Wyndham and then contact RCI. My sister still uses her maiden name but I don’t, so it sounds like that would complicate the issue, nor do we live at the same addresses. My dad mentioned that he “got the RCI membership for free” for converting his other week to Wyndham points, so I’ll clarify with him whether that includes both his weeks and points accounts and if there’s a renewal date or not. Overall I think it might be easier to keep using his login and just pay for guest certificates, but we’ll see what we can do. Since there are two KCR weeks my sister and I plan to use them separately. My dad (he’s 93 and still driving) says he’s done with weekly stays anywhere and plans not to stay more than one or two nights along a given route, so we can have them to use as we want.
