There's been some progress... Our new fridge is in place... but that's the best of it. The kitchen is still gutted, although there are a few new cabinets w/o drawers, shelves or doors, scattered about.

Before removing the old sink, they broke the garbage disposer that I wanted to keep. They also put a hole in the water line for the fridge.

They claim it'll all be done before we start a trip at the end of the month, but I seriously doubt it. We haven't seen the countertop guy, the tile guy, a plumber or an electrician.

We told the contractor that, if they're not done, the house will be locked up and they'll be on vacation, too. So it goes.

Omg! This would make me furious! So frustrating! I hope by a miracle it will be finished but from what you are saying I doubt it also.

When our kitchen was remodeled the contractor put a completion date in the contract. If it was not done by then I could start subtracting $$.

It was completed a head of time.

I think we may actually be catching up! :) Marble tile cleaned and sealed for third time today. Base cabinet in. No doors or drawers on site yet. Template made for marble countertop. Hope that goes in this week. Wall switches and timers are installed. Heated towel bar is installed and working on its timer. Need a new breaker before testing heated floors. Plumber coming tomorrow to start putting in fixtures, drain and tub. Smart toilet last. The one piece of "freestanding" (clips only) glass at the end of the shower is on order. The light fixtures are awaiting the finished cabinet and mirrors. It's looking a bit like a bathroom! We too are going on a trip at the end of the month and want it finished!

I want your bath!... and yours might actually get done on time.
Our contractor claims they'll be going full tilt starting tomorrow.
It's been off and on so far, so I'm keeping my expectations low.

I understand. There were weeks when nothing happened here, or very little. Getting each sub in just as another finishes seems impossible. Hubby told me that they did not seal again today. Have to come back again. And the guys that were here to measure for the countertop forgot to measure for the threshold. Sigh. I doubt the glass will be installed before we leave. They were supposed to have ordered it some time ago but apparently it just sat on someone's desk. I've never believed that a project will go as planned so I don't get too frustrated.

Hang in there, Glynda. We were going to spring a surprise visit THIS WEEKEND :) but we'll wait a couple of weeks.

(just kidding)

but we do hope to see you sometime soon.....we'll wait until your project is finished......
that is, if you'll agree to getting together for dinner again.

So, are they on "full tilt"?

We sure have been! I am amazed at all we've gotten done in three days! The glass that supposedly hadn't been ordered was installed yesterday! The plumber has almost finished putting in the fixtures. The cabinet countertop is in. However, they gouged the sheet rock doing so and it has to be repaired and repainted. :(
All that is left to do is install the rest of the cabinets, their doors, drawers and hardware (not yet chosen), mirrors, cove moulding, backsplash and lighting fixtures! Woo hoo!

Not eggsactly...
So far this week, they brought 2 cabinets & partly installed the range hood.
Today, they were here for about 90 minutes (1:30 - 3:00PM).
They brought in 1 cabinet, took measurements & went over plans w-us.
Then they said they were going to "the shop" (maybe the name of a bar?)
... and would be back on Friday.

Talent312, you are now on third base. You are heading home with the winning run.
Your kitchen remodeling job is 85% to 90% complete. Hopefully in the next two (2) to three (3) weeks the job will be completed. You will look back and say job well done.:clap::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::whooopie:

Brings back all the horrible memories of the remodel in our previous house that was timelined out to a max of 9 weeks by the Contractor. After 18 weeks we threw them out of the house because the winter holidays were approaching and we had parties planned for our house. Such simple things went bad. When they were constructing the plastic walls to separate parts of the house they used Blue Painter's Tape to fasten the plastic to the almost 100 year old fir floors. We warned the Contractor this was a bad idea. But I was an attorney and in the Contractor's I did not know anything. Sure enough months later when they removed the Tape it ripped chucks of fir out. They did had to track down antique fir flooring to fix their mistake.
