I have to attend a timeshare presentation at MVC. Rewards are - $250 amex gift card / 35k bonvoy points / 600 destination points. Please share your thoughts on which option is more valuable. I am thinking of going for $250 amex gift card. Thanks.

I personally would opt for the destination points with a value of $.67 per point for rentals ($402). I'm averaging over $.01 per point on MR redemptions over the last 2 years ($350). The AMEX is immediate use so nothing wrong with that. All good offers in my opinion for 90 minutes of your time.

If I have a hotel in mind that I could get for 35K points and it costs more than $250, I’d take the points (overnight stay in LA or SF in the way to Hawaii for instance).

If I was short a few hundred DC points for that trip we really wanted or, those points were the difference in a better view, I’d take the DC points. (parking lot view vs ocean view)

But all other things being equal, I’ll take the money

I would take the DC points. We received 450 DC points at a presentation in February and used 300 for one night needed to add on to a two week exchange at the Surf Club. I had reserved one night through Marriott.com for the one night at $450. I was able to cancel that and used 300 DC points instead. DC points in this case had a value of $450 and we still another 150 DC points to use.

If you don't mind me asking, where is this presentation? Those are pretty generous gifts. And I'm not sure what you mean that you "have to Attend" a presentation? Is it an encore or friend share? For my 2 cents I would take the 600DP's

Try the Westin in Savannah, GA (45min from Hilton Head)
The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa
It's a category 5 and requires 35,000 rewards points per night, which I think is a steal.
Look at the photos, especially the view from their fire pit area across the river to the cityscape, shown below.
The rooms are beautiful, and the rest of the hotel is too.

The other big hotels (Marriott Riverfront Hotel and Grand Bohemian) require 50,000 pts.

Plus a $30 resort fee, $18 self parking all plus tax. And no lounge but CONTINENTAL breakfast buffet with an $8 up charge to full buffet.

We had those same offers for reward points or DC points or $300 in Marriott Bucks plus $50 extra for all if we signed up prior to arrival. We chose the Bucks and also had resort credit obtained with holding account points that were going to expire. 4 Ladies did a massage and even with, I still had some dining credit left which we finished using last night at Marley's Grill (very good BTW). This even though we're in the process of finishing a purchase/conversion which completed this week. I told them I didn't think we were eligible and they said no problem. I guess they really want to try to upsell the new system.

We're going to the Aruba Surf Club on Sunday and I'm shocked that we haven't been contacted in advance (as we always are) about setting up an appointment for a presentation. We are Chairman's Club and don't intend to buy anything more, but I don't understand how they decide whom they target for presentations. I'm sure they will hit us up when we are there.

Is it a reward or a lure?

I suppose it could be a lure. As that’s how they got you in

Or a reward. For the time you gave them

Or maybe even an award. For making it to the finish line
