1. Buy resale

2. Be patient in acquiring; low mf worth paying up for

3. Learn the system, understand what you own and how to get max use.

4. Listen to Ron

5. When in doubt, see #4

6. People that saved hundreds of thousands of dollars buying resale and finagling VIP with some loophole complain the loudest about Wyndham rule changes that impact them; even if the still have a unbelievably fantastic deal in total.

7. Some people are on these boards so much that it borders on addiction, albeit a harmless one.

8. When someone buys from developer and THEN finds TUG, it always plays out the same:

a. Person asks if they got a good deal
b. Five TUGers explain the could have got the same deal for pennies on dollar resale.
c. Person initially refuses to believe, defends developer purchase with lines the sales person told them.
d. Knowing rescind time is short, a dozen TUGers try to explain sales lies and beg person to rescind.
e. If the person is in time to rescind, the do, then make a resale purchase that is far better; hopefully join TUG for life.
f. Tug newsletter posts another victory and TUGBrian further cements his legacy as Jedi Master of the timeshare universe.
g. Repeat a thru f until many millions are saved and as many people as possible are saved from an over costly developer price.

9. I love this place. See #7.

I’ll admit I complained a little when last year’s changes were announced, but since then in my subjective view I see more complaints from regular VIPs. And I don’t really begrudge them, considering the amount they’ve paid and the number of points they need to effectively manage.

Well said Railman.

I found TUG in time last May to save $60k. So Jedi Master TUGBrian, if you read this, add me to the list.

Since then, I closed my first resale in December and my second resale is in process now. Used my points for the first time at Park City last week.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their wisdom.

We really enjoyed it. It was our first time in Park City and they were having 40-year lows for snow so the skiing wasn’t great this year. But the location is very good in the Canyons with a Gondola right outside the door that takes you to the main Canyons base area. Then there is a trail to ski right back to the front door of the resort. I haven’t stayed at many Wyndhams yet so don’t have many reference points, but we had a 2 bedroom that was very nice. Small balcony and a gas fireplace. They have a ski valet downstairs so you can just leave your skis right next to the lift. The only negative was limited food/drink options nearby, so you really need a car. It’s only a 5 minute drive to Main Street in Park City. There is a Worldmark next door that had a bar with some food, and then the Waldorf is across the street (seems to go for $1-2k+ per night, and the Wyndham is closer to the lift).

The Wyndham is a small resort, 80-something units. It was sold only as Presidential Reserve and CWA. I was surprised it was CWA since I feel like they could have gotten a premium selling it as deeds with ARP specifically at Park City. But what do I know...

Regarding #4 and #5
You are going to have to find someone new

I am now completely out of the game. I don’t own any Wyndham or Worldmark

Love the boat name, Ron. Absolutely apropos and tongue in Cheek. Mine is BankruptSea.

The name is even better than you think, my wife’s last name is spelled differently but pronounced exactly the same as “Bourbon”. So I got a “two-fer” I named the boat after my wife and got a reference to New Orleans where I made the money that paid for it
