Just curious if anybody on TUG has been successful in the past trading using II into a studio at MOC for week 52?

Noticed no one has answered your question, Chrispee. I'm no expert but do own 3 weeks at MMOC/Napili, all float weeks which exclude week 52. That fact alone makes me think it would be difficult to trade in? I have done only 1 trade several years ago with II, & that was with my DVC membership into a deluxe Hawaii resort (not MOC). I was looking for a Spring week then.

I can say THIS with assurance.....if you plan on being on Maui for that week I would most certainly sew up an alternate rez NOW for that week (one that you can cancel within a reasonable time frame), while you wait to see if you get a trade.

Any of you veteran traders care to help out Chrispee?

And Chrispee, I think you possibly might get more answers if you posted your question on the Marriott forum? There are so many folks that trade on TUGS so there are bound to be some folks that can help you.

I know as a weeks owner at MMOC, I have a heck of a time booking what I want right at the minute they release at the 13 month window. But I do see posts from people that trade into there. Good luck!

My take is a trade into MOC for week 52, even a studio is super tough. Mainly because the week is so valuable to rent I have to imagine most owners are savvy enough to rent their usage for big profit if they're not using themselves. Also any week 52 that is traded at MOC, and I've been told by a few II reps that a resort that size always has a few trades, would take an equally strong week to match a week 52 MOC that I can only imagine it being very difficult.

Thanks for the insights Southerngirl and Moxjo. I figured it would be virtually impossible but was curious to see if anybody had been successful in the past. I'll definitely make an alternative reservation!

Given you are open to any size villa, there is a slim chance you could get into MOC during NYE week. It will be VERY hard though, as NYE at MOC is a premium week. Most owners will occupy that week or rent for $$$$$ if smart. It’s not likely many exchange a NYE week in II, unless they are looking for something as good in return from II. I have had luck with Kauai Beach Club and Waiohai for Christmas or NYE weeks via II. Both Marriott properties. I also used Marriott weeks to obtain. Good luck! Use a high TDI week and request far in advance if you do try.

I actually have a confirmed NYE exchange to the Kaua’i Beach Club but grabbed flights to Maui during a mileage sale. I may just cancel the flights at the 60 day mark and head to Kaua’i if a Maui exchange doesn’t pull through for me.

Not sure where you are flyering from, but we’ve found flights to HI around Christmas & NYE to be very pricey. If you got a good rate into Maui, another option could be to keep that flight and just pay $100 or so for an interisland flight to Kauai.

We’re only going for a week so I’m not super keen on taking an inter-island. I’d rather burn a few extra points and risk the rain on Kaua’i I think.
