I am traveling to Loreto next month, and I was wondering if anyone has any good suggestions where to eat. I am staying at Villa el Palmar, but I am renting a car so that I can drive into Loreto and eat.

It is hard to beat the Villa del Palmar for restaurants. Especially in the summer months. Peak tourist season in this area is winter. We went to Nopolo to find a restaurant / pub last October and found that the entire town was pretty much deserted and nothing was really open. In contrast, we went to Nopolo in February and the place was very busy and everything was open.

In Loreto there are restaurants near the Malecon and Church. I have no idea of the service or quality but some friends that stayed in Loreto before heading to the Villa del Palmar said their experience was pretty good.

I agree with Bill, Palmar has a several very delicious restaurants. Our family favorite is the lunch restaurant between the pool and the beach. The tacos al pastor are to die for. Their Italian restaurant also has a fabulous menu.

In Loreto, downtown, by the church, there are several really inexpensive restaurants that are super clean and delicious right close to the church. It is a very clean city and a nice area to walk around at. Also, in town, if you take the shuttle to the sister hotel at Loreto, our family really enjoyed the meals at the restaurant at that hotel. They weren't fancy or anything which ended up being very refreshing and the place was clean.

One suggestion if not doing the AI, the main buffet restaurant, on site, has a better menu than the buffet in our opinion and was substantially cheaper.

Enjoy Loreto!
