We just returned from grand solmar in cabo sanlucas. I just wanted to give a update.

Yes they are still under construction with scheduled completion in February 2014. We stayed in building 6. Construction starts at 8am and continues until about 5pm. I would consider noise to be moderate with sliders closed you can hardly hear it from our room 6906. One exception was Friday night the noise was extremely loud as they worked all night pouring cement for a new floor. We called multiple times, after 3am we understood nothing was going to change an we just tolerated it. Keep in mind that signs all over state quiet after 10pm.*

Day times the adult pool is great. Quiet with few people and great wait staff.

This place is awesome pictures do not do it justice. Beautiful and impeccably gardened . All employees from the front desk staff to ground keepers are awesome, very friendly and extremely helpfull they truly make this resort a Great.

Cindy-front desk, Emmanuel- transporter, Gerardo-server at pool all were outstanding. Others I wish I could remember but everyone was great. Even grounds staff went above an beyond to make you feel welcomed and special. Restaurants were welcoming, friendly and food good, prices reasonable too.

Timeshare staff were rude. Walking around or riding elevators with them you realized they were not friendly and could careless how they represented the resort. This was embarissing especially if you owned here.

We are finishing a one week stay in a 2BR penthouse today. We exchanged through II-a 3BR Ocean City MD. This has got to be the most beautiful resort we have stayed around the world. We did the all inclusive. Worth it. Food was fabulous and it was fun not cooking for the week.

We were celebrating my wife's 50th birthday. Had our daughter's family and our lovely 4 year old grand daughter. The most special week. More to come!

I teared up twice about having to come home…….

But I still miss the charm of the old Solmar-dated, to be sure, but warm and welcoming! Our first experiences in time sharing-got me started on buying more.

Yolie, I'd highly recommend against adding the all-inclusive package. There are way too many great restaurants/bars in town to spend all your meals at the resort! Check out the very active Los Cabos forum on TripAdvisor for more information. Trapper's List of recommended restaurants is a good start on understanding why you should avoid AI programs in Cabo. We enjoy drinks at the pool, and a few meals at Grand Solmar, but always look forward to returning to favorite restaurants - El Farallon and Hacienda y Cocina, to name just a few.

$115/day PP. Included everything at the Grand Solmar and their sister resort (Not Solmar forgot the name). We went to a couple of events there.

Food was great all the way around. Each night dinners had different themes. We felt it saved a great deal of $$$ and added tons of flexibility.

I was there in Nov 2013 and it was $89/day pp. We did not do it even though we ate 90% of all meals at Grand Solmar. Many of the better/more expensive items on the menu like steaks, were not covered as part of the all-inclusive. I think it is like 50% off the price if you buy all-inclusive. We ended up spending a little over $89 + gratuity per person per day but it would have cost us more if we have gone with the all-inclusive as many of the items that we ordered were not included in the all-inclusive. Overall, I would say don't get the all-inclusive. Pay as you go gives you more choices.

Shortly after your stay, they went to single pricing including all items and beverages-except a few liquors. Plus including the other resort. We had our daughter, son in law with us. He can put away some food. We added daily and really did get our $$$ worth. We ordered steak, lamb, bottles of wine, shrimp, lobster.

Does anyone know the AI discount for attending the sales presentation? I called last week the resort, the all inclusive (no alcohol though) for adults is $105 and $50 for kids under 12 i think. The person on the phone said that it might be cheaper to buy in advance in case the prices go up (oh, i heard that before like a million times)

Don't know. We refused to attend their sales presentation. I think $105 without alcohol is a reasonable deal. Based on our experience from several years ago, several of the more expensive items (meats) had an up charge. We bought the AI for 3 days out of the 7 days that we were there and it was about right number of days for us to do AI.

we are thinking to buy the AI for 3 or 4 days. Paying 100 bucks for our 5 and 7 years old (together) seems like a big waste though

I did not realize that Grand Solmar was an option AI. Is that correct?
