I have stayed several times at the Grand Mayan in Nuevo and know I can get an exchange there. It's a beautiful resort but they make it so difficult to get off the property that I felt like a prisoner. Looking for suggestions for other places to stay in the area that are nice. Must be RCI, no AI, easy to get around and restaurants in walking distance. Suggestions?

Buganvilias Vacation Club, Mayan Palace Marina, and Westin Regina are all good choices. :)

Exactly because you will not be a prisoner. We like the Buganvilias because you are closer to the heart of Puerto Vallarta. It will give you a complete different feeling from a resort area that Nuevo Vallarta mainly is.

The Buganvilias has a nice pool and it is heated.

Are they all RCI? I was trying to find out but I am not an RCI member so they won't let me look it up.

We also found some really nice choices on VRBO if you are open to non-timeshare lodging. We booked one week at Westin Regina and more in a private residence in the old city. Great choice.

In PV's hotel zone there is the Villa del Palmar that trades with RCI and is not AI required. The VDP charges $3.50 per day for tips to employees that normally do not get tips.

You might be able to trade a unit with a member. I was wondering what your trading.

I agree with Pittle as well .

************

If you want non AI in Nuevo -
the Sea Garden - (Vidanta) is not on the big property and so has easy - off resort access & walk to restaurants in the Nuevo Marina area.

The unit count is about 200 . The one bedroom suites are very similar to Mayan Palace units and the kitchenette is identical .

RCI 6866 - 7-11 TPU one bedroom suite / June - Dec 2017
RCI 6867 has one bedrooms until March 2019

Unlike MP you cannot get a 2 bedroom via a lockoff format .
Hotel rooms ( Vidanta term master suites ) have no fridge / microwave or coffee maker .

Anywhere but Villa del Palmar. When we stayed there, it was a dump. Now, that was years ago, and perhaps they've rebuilt it since. Idk.

The resort was renovated about three years ago. New beds, furniture, appliances and art. I didn't like the art. I do like the resort but PV is too big a city for my taste. I like NV and Flamingos Beach. It is too bad Villa del Palmar Flamigos trades with . VDP Flamigos is a hard resort to trade into most of the time because the units rent and trade privately very well.

Stayed many times at Club Regina. They "disconnected" from the Westin but it's still my favorite and you can use the Westin restaurants. Non-AI and RCI.

Cheers

Costa sur small resort. Look it up we take a taxi to dinner all kinds of places to eat. Get a 1 bedroom they all have ocean veiws bring binoculars. If you go when the whales are there we have week 4&5. The bar rings the bell when a whale is sited. Food is good. But better restaurants in town you take the elevator down to the pools and bar walk down the stairs to the beach/water break great for snorkeling. Better than any snorkeling trip we have been on. If you like what you see get back to me I will give you great places to eat
