Not sure how to handle this situation. not sure if MVC can do anything about it...

Using dest pts.. I have "almost" a weeks vacation. I have Sat-Sun, Mon-Sat at the Surf Club in Aruba. Been watching the inventory.. nothing. do you think if I emailed they'd assist me in finding the one night?

FYI: this is president week Feb 2020.. So missing Feb 16-17

Have you wait listed for your missing night with DC points? Have you made a cash ressie for the missing night as a fall back plan?

I agree with the suggestion to get on the Destination points wait list.
That worked for me.
And keep watching for a cash reservation at surf club-it’s a long way off.
Do the 2 reservations you have now match up for size, room type and view?
Or will you have to move?
You might want to consider booking someplace else sat & sun night if you need to move anyway-that would save a lot of Destination points.

I'd book the night at Marriott Stellaris Resort just to be safe, and hope you are able to get into Surf Club later on.

I'm going to wait a bit.. it still 11 months out. I'm sure one night will open up for cash..
i just find it odd.. inventory wise.. Its a huge place, not going to thru a refurb. to have sunday night sold out.. (granted monday is a holiday)

Call MVC and ask to be put on the wait list for the addition night. You have nothing to lose.

I wouldn't panic at this point. Some of the suggestions above to take as "just in case" measures are good ones. Remember, Chairman club members have until 10/31 to convert our 2020 weeks into DC points so as the year goes on, you will see more availability in MVC inventory. Get on that list and you will probably get the date you need. Good luck.

the only thing I don' like about the wait list is they pre-draw the points.. and I've been in situations where I'm on the wait list, it doesn't work, I see the availability I want and I cant get it in time. or I change my mind and need to go thru the process to cancel the wait list and then get what I want.

You don't have points from 2021 you can borrow from if that situation were to arise? I can see if you are using Legacy points that you may not be interested in converting your 2021 week to points yet....but if you have Trust points, unless you have borrowed them already, seems like in a one-off situation like you described, you would just use the borrowed 2021 points to book the ressie. After it had been solidified, you can call MVC, and have them cancel the wait list, and then have them swap the 2020 points, freed up from the wait list cancellation, into the ressie in place of the borrowed 2021 points, freeing them up to move back to 2021 and things are back as you wanted them to be.

You could always book a cash night at the Renaissance Aruba as a possible backup.

In case you haven’t been, I’ll add that the 3 Marriott’s are right in a row- Stellaris, Ocean Club and Surf Club. Moving from one of those to another wouldn’t be as much of a hassle as coming from a totally different resort.

If it were me, I would reserve a room at Stellaris for Saturday and Sunday night (of course if your party & finances fit and you aren’t trying to use up DC points) and then keep searching for a Surf club Sunday night. Rather than checking into Surf club Saturday, moving Sunday, then back Monday.

Good luck!
