Thinking about spending a few nights at MOW - havent been there in awhile...Does anybody know if the pool refurbishment - still posted on Website as going on through 03/2019 - has completed? Also wondering if original building units have been refurbished in the last year or two? TIA for any info you are able to provide!

Hi Vicki/Dave. I think we met a few times at MFV. :) We were at MOW for Easter and all the pools were open and fantastic. So, I'd assume the refurbishment was complete.

We've moved to NC, so probably won't see you anymore at MFV. We picked up a MOW, since we are so close now. Love it there. Enjoy your stay!

Brady! Great to hear from you and thanks for info on MOW, glad the pool refurbishment is done, figured so... Congrats on your move and on being newish owners at OceanWatch, it is indeed a beautiful resort! We dont go regularly to MFV anymore either, havent for a few years now - we exchange it for points and are exploring other properties (though we still enjoy occasional weekends there and its close enough to make it doable...) Hopefully will run into you guys in our travels!

KOBC x6, Westin Kierland x2, and we went to the darkside and bought points!
Lobby of main building appears to be under construction now but I don't know if major work or minor work being done.

Resort facade painting and waterproofing project info.

“Dear Owners and Guests,

We look forward to welcoming you to Marriott's OceanWatch Villas for your upcoming vacation!

We want to inform you that the resort will be completing a building facade painting and waterproofing project over the next several months. The project will begin in mid-July and is currently anticipated to continue through the end of March, 2020.

The project will be completed in stages across all five villa buildings at the resort, beginning with the Ocean View and Garden View buildings from July - September 2019. Work on the Ocean Front and Ocean Side villa buildings is expected to occur between September 2019 - March 2020. You may experience the following during your upcoming stay:
Restricted access to your villa balcony due to work taking place on the exterior.
Periodic closures of small portions of the pool deck (anticipate impact to entry and exit points only). Pools expected to remain open during the entirety of the project.
The presence of contractors on swing stages on the exterior of your villa and/ or on balconies.
Temporary pedestrian and vehicular detours.
The painting and waterproofing project is currently scheduled to occur daily, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Our goal is to create unforgettable vacation experiences and we appreciate your understanding as we make continued improvements to the resort. If you have any questions or would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact the resort at 843-692-5529.

I am here now, and went to the Owners Update the other day. This project was discussed. The description provided was that this is the project that they expect will decrease the possibility that we will have similar hurricane damage that we have had in 2016 and 2018. They said a 3rd party structural expert performed an assessment, and determined that the water repelling design that was used during the build is not a good fit for these buildings. If you take a look at the buildings, there are intentional gaps vertically and horizontally throughout the buildings. The horizontal gaps are just above most windows. These gaps are intended to allow water "into" the building and then escape down the building. There is too much water allowed in than can escape, per the assessment. So, the new plan is to fill in all of these gaps and paint over them.

Hopefully this assessment and new direction is the solution.

Lobby of main building appears to be under construction now but I don't know if major work or minor work being done.
This was described as an issue with the trash shoot in the building. There was too much of a curve in the shoot, around the level of the lobby area. They needed to rip out the wall, get to the shoot, change the angle, and repair. The repairs of the walls is happening now, and they should be done within a week, per the Ops Director.
