We will be on a Danube river cruise in November. Prior to boarding the Avalon Illumination, we will spend a week at Gemuender Ferienpark Salzberg timeshare in Germany near to Liege & Maastricht, then 3 nights in France as we mosey toward 3 nights in Lucerne before boarding in Nuremberg.

Car rental from FRA to Nuremberg city was booked months ago via Holiday Autos with Europcar the provider. Just recently found a caveat in the contract that "No International Crossings are Permitted" I will contact Europcar directly since Holiday could only refer me back to the contract wording. It's been awhile since we rented a car in Europe and went from one country to another- there was no issue those previous times.

Can anyone suggest a European car rental company that allows us to travel from one EU country to another?

We fly standby so we really don't know how and where we might end up. I found car rentals that I could drop in a different EU but it was just really expensive (like 500-1000 euro extra.) We ended up where we wanted to be, but a train was going to be our border crossing plan. Good luck!

Try calling autoeurope because they are a broker using various rental car companies and can probably check that out for you. They are a US company with a US phone # and cust service, that's why I always use them. 888-223-5555. We have often crossed borders during our stays, but there are huge surcharges when not returning the car to the same country as the original rental. (Different cities in the same country for pickup & return never a problem.)
